Wondering how to juggle finding an academic college AND the right dance team fit?

Each dancer completes two questionnaires: The first is to provide information on the dancer’s training history, preferred styles, and college and dance team goals. The second is a dancer’s self-evaluation of specific skills and tricks.

We’ll discuss the intake questionnaire information and dive more into the dancer’s college and dance team aspirations so we can provide meaningful guidance.

We provide a series of dance combinations on video with step-by-step instructions in jazz, hip-hop, pom, and gameday styles – the ones most often used by collegiate dance teams. Then, the dancer videos themselves doing the combos.

We’ve partnered with Sharpen UP! Dance Team Training to provide this exceptional offering. The expert evaluator will review the submitted video material and provide a written evaluation of specific dance-team-related skills with scores against a defined rubric. Dancers receive an overall score that gives them an idea of their current dance team level.

While an evaluation rubric and score are helpful, the personalized video review gives depth and texture to the evaluation. The evaluator explains what they see in the student’s dance presentation, performance skills, and overall preparation for dance team and offers specific areas to work on for transitioning to a college team dance style.

We’ll first walk the student and parents through the evaluation materials. Then, we discuss the student’s goals and the next steps – both academically and for dance training to reach those goals. We’ll offer some initial suggestions for good-fit colleges and dance teams for further investigation.
